Having successfully worked together on previous projects, we were approached by RAD Ltd to design a scheme to completely remodel their latest hotel and restaurant acquisition as the existing property consisted of a number of unsightly architectural styles from the 1960’s and 1990’s including the existing 19th century farmhouse building.
It was agreed that significant demolition and re-building would be required to create a unified elevational treatment with a contemporary appearance to match the values of the client.
Internally, we created a layout which would take advantage of the stunning views across the Lanark Valley and beyond with the use of full height glazing, framed within canopies which provide shelter from the elements. The ‘piece-meal’ fashion of the existing building, made way for a spacious open- plan layout with a central island-bar and a modern kitchen open to the newly formed dining area.
Externally, we treated the most prominent elevations with a contemporary makeover, which was designed with an aesthetic that reinforced the client’s existing brand and identified that the existing hotel itself was under new ownership.
